Heroic Clarets are out of luck

WE’VE had some pretty unfair games in our time but I think Saturday against Tottenham has got to be up there with one of the most unfair after we played so well and defended so heroically.

It seems we have got our mojo back and have remembered how to control the lost art of defending, much to the detriment of some talksport pundits who accused us of ‘murdering the sport’. What a laugh!

So, we roll over to the top six teams and we’re ‘not good enough for the league’ but we defend for our lives, and valiantly, and all of a sudden we’re killing football? So we can’t win then?

Killing the sport is this infuriating modern football whereby an average player costs more than the club is worth and certain England strikers that are knocked down by a feather in front of goal (*cough cough* Dele Alli).

The idiots can say what they please, but this match was a real turning point in our season I believe, because we can now start to think seriously about winning some matches and saving our position in this precious league. We are going to be ok if we keep playing the exact same way we played against Spurs.

So, with the likes of Arsenal, our next away match, getting beat by a struggling Southampton, is it a glimmer of hope perhaps for our visit on Saturday? The top sides can be beaten after all, we just have to keep them on their toes.

Overall, the sense of pride is slowly starting to make its way to the surface for most fans as we seem to have found our feet again. If we can push on, there’s no doubt in my mind this whole relegation nonsense will be a distant memory in a few months’ time.

The passion is definitely still there, it may have been hiding for a while, but the boys seem to have really bounced back and I can’t praise them enough – it’s just a real shame that we couldn’t hold Erikson off for just a few minutes longer. We can only ask for more of the same as we go into a busy period of games. We’ve got it in us though, so all that’s left to say is keep up the hard work!
