Charity theft woe

AHEARTLESS thief swiped four charity boxes after breaking into a pub on Christmas Eve.

Owners Lorraine and Michael Morris at the Abbey Hotel on Bank Street in Accrington were left ‘completely heartbro- ken’ after finding their premises had been targeted in the early hours of Monday, December 24.

The pub’s till had been emptied, but the offender took charity boxes for Cancer Research, Marie Curie, Derian House and East Lancs Hospice.

They also stole a laptop, Accrington Stanley and Syndicate money and smashed numerous bot- tles of beer and spirits.

Lorraine told the Observer: “After nearly 12 years in The Abbey, we are completely heartbroke­n, considerin­g the time of year. It’s been a hard one.

“Any informatio­n would be very much appreciate­d.”

Lorraine added that the pub will remain open during the festive period.

Lancashire Constabu- lary said no arrests have been made and are appealing for informatio­n.

A police spokespers­on said: “Between 2am and 7am offenders had entered the property taking cash tins and laptops.

“Some damage was also caused to alcohol bottles.

“Anyone with informatio­n can contact police on 101 quoting log 0195 of December 24.”
