Man choked and kicked asthma sufferer in three-hour ordeal

-

ATERRIFIED woman ‘thought she would die’ during a three-hour spree of violence by her partner. Daniel Shaun Davidson, 37, choked and smothered his girlfriend as well as punching and kicking her, Burnley Crown Court heard.

The court heard that Davidson became violent and abusive after the victim had smashed a picture of the couple, at their house on Monk Street, Accrington.

Prosecutor Alaric Bassano said: “He came at her in the bedroom, he punched, kicked and kneed her, she ended up on the floor curled up in a ball to protect herself.

“She had a panic attack and went for her asthma inhaler but Davidson stood on the inhaler, trying to destroy it.”

When the woman tried to escape Davidson followed and took her keys, locking the doors.

Later in the ordeal on November 2, Davidson covered his partner’s nostrils and mouth with his hand and placed his hands around her neck.

Mr Bassano said ‘this caused her to believe she was going to die’.

Davidson admitted one count of assault occasioning actual bodily harm. He was jailed for 32 months. SEE page 9 for full story
