Dealer hid drugs in his pants

-

A ‘COUNTY lines’ heroin dealer who was found with drugs packages hidden in his underpants has been jailed.

Arsam Ali was found with more than 20 grammes of heroin - worth just over £2,500 - which was destined to be sold to drug users around Accrington, a court heard.

Officers from the Targeted Crime Team stopped Ali’s black Volkswagen Golf in Colne after he travelled from Yorkshire but an initial search of the vehicle found nothing illegal.

Prosecutor Emma Kehoe told Burnley Crown Court that Ali was then searched thoroughly at the police station and officers found a large sealed package of heroin in his underpants.

They also found more than a dozen 0.1 gramme ‘tied bag’ wraps - the equivalent of a single ‘street deal’.

Ali, 25, pleaded guilty to possessing class A drugs with intent to supply and was jailed for 40 months.

Miss Kehoe told the court that Ali, of Chapel Lane, Allerton, Bradford, had previous convictions and had served time in jail for similar offences.

Speaking after the hearing, a Hyndburn Police spokesperson said: “This is a great result and this will hopefully help spread the word that county lines drug dealers will be targeted by Lancashire Police at every opportunity.”
