Attacker is a ‘danger to women’

-

JUDGE Sara Dodd said it was a ‘sustained, prolonged, repeated and vicious attack’ on his partner and branded him a ‘danger to women’.

Sentencing, she told the court: “[The victim] was particularly vulnerable. She was in bed when this attack happened.

“She is asthmatic, a fact you well knew, and during the course of the attack you broke her inhaler and made efforts to restrict her breathing.

“You used your feet and possibly something else around her neck.

“She was forced to leave her home. I’m told in mitigation that you are sorry and want to apologise to her.”

The court was told that Davidson was given a suspended sentence in 2015 for battery and a three-year jail sentence in June 2017 for a ‘severe assault on his then partner’.

Judge Dodd said she could not sentence Davidson as a ‘dangerous offender’ and pass an extended sentence.

However she told him: “You are a danger to women and a danger to women with whom you have a relationship.

“I have very real concerns you will cause further serious harm to other women in future by the commission of further specified offences.”
