A NEW shopping mall has opened in the town centre providing space for up to 25 businesses.

The former B&M Bargains and Kwik Save unit on Union Street in Accrington has been transformed over the last four months into a new ‘East meets West’ market.

Fashion 300 Mall includes wares for all communities including clothes, jewellery, fashion, photography, food, a desserts bar, a beautician and a prayer room.

The business has been set up by Basharat Hussain and Zahid Malik and around 100 people gathered for a preview opening on Friday, December 21.

Mr Malik, who has a fashion business in Nelson but previously worked in Accrington, said he is excited about providing something new and different to the area.

He said: “We are coming to Accrington to give traders and shoppers more opportunities.

“There will be different types of stalls and lots of food. We are hoping to bring a lot of people into the town.”

Hyndburn Mayor Mohammad Ayub, council leader Miles Parkinson and councillor Munsif Dad helped cut the ribbon at the preview night.

Coun Ayub said: “I welcome this business for the town.

“It is a great boost for the area and I wish them the best of luck.”

Coun Parkinson praised the investment into the town centre and has urged Hyndburn residents to ‘use it or lose it’.

He said: “It’s really important that our empty retail units are taken up.

“It was an empty unit in the heart of the town centre and hopefully the residents of Hyndburn will come down and utilise it.”
