Gang of machete thugs stab man

-

A MAN was hospitalised with stab wounds after a gang of six thugs armed with machetes burst into a house.

Police were called to a ‘disturbance’ at a property on Clement Street in Accrington shortly after 11pm on Tuesday, January 1, in which three men were assaulted.

One of the victims is being treated in hospital with stab wounds which are ‘serious but not believed to be lifethreatening’. A second victim refused medical treatment and a third had left the house before officers arrived.

Lancashire Police say they believe it to have been a ‘targeted attack’.

A spokesperson said: “We attended and found three men had been assaulted after a group of approximately six men had entered the address armed with machetes.

“We have since arrested a 55-year-old woman from Accrington on suspicion of GBH and she remains in custody.

“Our enquiries are ongoing but we believe this was a targeted attack and there is currently not thought to be any wider threat to the public.

“However we have increased patrols in the area as a precaution.”

Call police on 101 with any information.
