Chance to burn off extra calories

-

AN annual race will offer the chance to work off the last of the Christmas excesses, while raising vital charity funds.

The East Lancashire Hospice 10k will be held in Great Harwood on Sunday, January 13, having raised more than £50,000 in the last five years.

This year’s race, hosted by Gaskell Motor Bodies, is expected to attract more than 600 people for the adult, junior and 2k fun run categories. Preregistered runners will receive a medal when crossing the finishing line, sponsored by Universal Cooling Ltd in Oswaldtwistle.

Paul Slone, managing director, said: “Good luck to everyone. It’s a really well organised event for a great cause. Just taking part is a massive help to East Lancs Hospice who do a tremendous job.”

Adult places are £12 and entry for the 2k fun run is £3. To register visit the Hospice website. Leanne Green, events fundraiser for the Hospice, said: “Universal Cooling and Gaskell Motor Bodies are fantastic supporters of the hospice and it’s thanks to companies like them we get to hold events like the 10k to help raise money for patients in our community.”
