Accrington Observer - - YOUR VIEWS -

WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

LIBRARY move for closing Oswaldtwistle Post Office branch ruled out (December 21):

Gayle Knight: I did speak to the Post Office to see if we could offer temporary space but the amount of work that would be needed to make a space viable couldn’t just be on a temporary arrangement. But they did say they have had at least three offers of space. Oswaldtwistle will not be left without one. Judith Addison: We used to have two Post Offices in “mainstream Ossy” - one at the bottom end almost opposite the Civic and one at the top end, just above the junction with Commercial Street. Of course that was in the days when old people used to draw their state pension in cash every week, which was also a “social occasion” for them, seeing the same people in the queue every time. It always used to amuse me how they started queueing about quarter of an hour before the Post Offices opened at 9am, as though they were afraid the money was going to run out if they weren’t there at the start! As far as I know no-one has expressed interest in taking over the McColls’ store but I understand that a number of local businesses at the top end of Union Road have expressed interest in hosting the Post Office. Let’s hope something is sorted out very soon! ‘PRICELESS’ 12 days of Christmas shop video is a smash hit (December 21): Sharon Tedesco: Great, love it! Especially “5 stuffing balls”. Lisa Potter: Hahaha, well funny x Christine Mullen: Absolutely brilliant, well done. Carole Fittock: 2 packs of bacon my favourite. Rebecca Burns: Love this. Louise Scholes: Loved it.
