POETIC INSIGHT

-

JEAN Holden, from Accrington, was in poetic mood and sent us these verses:

Seasonal Ailments

‘Our Ferdinand went down with Flu,’ His maudlin mother cried. ‘Our Millicent went down with Mumps,’ The Butcher’s boy replied. ‘Our Parakeet went down with Pox,’ The Pet Shop owner sighed. ‘From top-to-tail was rosy-red With spots before his eyes!’..... I quietly closed my A.A. Milne, Regarding them with malice. ‘I know a little London boy And He went down with Alice!’

Hangover

I note, on reflection, a typical case Of mad-morning-after, the night before face, Whose ghoulish complexion’s a perfect disgrace Thus proving without a doubt, I can’t stand the pace!
