£5,800 raised for East Lancashire Hospice by kind-hearted groups
PUBGOERS, road runners, leisure members and kind-hearted businessmen have raised a combined £5,800 for East Lancashire Hospice.
The Hare and Hounds pub in Oswaldtwistle held a Fun Charity day and raised £2,110.
Catherine Leech, Hospice fundraiser, said: “A special thanks to the manager Paul Fitzpatrick and to all who made the event such a success.”
Leisure members at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel in Clayton-le-Moors raised £1,200 from their annual Christmas lunch. Manager Ivan Lynch donated raffle prizes and Trevor Hanson helped towards the total by taking part in Movember.
Great Harwood businessman Stuart Haworth also decided that instead of sending out Christmas gifts to their customers, they would donate the money - totalling £2,000 - to the Hospice.
CSH Transport owner Stuart said: “We have been supporting the Hospice for a number of years and this Christmas we felt we would like to give something extra as the care they provide is so important to our community.”
Accrington Road Runners donated £550 from funds raised at their annual 10k.
