JUNE Bamber died peacefully at home on Wednesday, January 2.

Loving wife of the late Roy, she will be missed by step-children Christine and John, Pauline and families and children Christine, Michael and David.

June’s funeral will be held on Monday, January 21, at 11am in St Wilfred’s Church, Ribchester, followed by interment in the churchyard.

PATRICIA WATMOUGH

PATRICIA Mary Watmough passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, December 25, aged 80.

She was the beloved wife of the late Roy, a much-loved mum of Amanda Jayne and Roy Stuart, mother-in-law to Carina and Ian, Oma and Farmor to Meloney Jayne, Sebastian, Oliver Stuart, Elliot William and Gavin, great-grandma to Charlie Roy, sister-in-law to Valerie and aunty to Lucy and Julian.

The funeral service and committal will be held on Friday, January 18 at 11am at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

DIANE SLATTERY

MRS Diane Lesley Slattery, of Mather Avenue, Accrington, died on Thursday, January 3, aged 67.

Diane was a Senior Medical Secretary for BMI Healthcare, Highfield Hospital, Rochdale.

In her spare time she was a keen darts player and was the former secretary of the Blackburn Federation of Racing Pigeons.

She was a supporter of Christie Cancer Trust and the Paul Michael Glaser Foundation.

Wife of Terry, she was mother of Amanda and Christophe­r, mother-inlaw to Clint and Dawn and a grandma and nanna to Jade, Sophie, Neve, Mia, Alta and Lily.

The funeral service was due to take place on Thursday, January 17, at 11am at Accrington Crematoriu­m, conducted by the minister Angela Riding.

PETER WARD

MR Peter Ward, of Ascot Way, Accrington, died on Saturday, January 5, aged 84.

Peter ran a successful off licence on Milnshaw Lane, Accrington with his wife Dorothy for many years.

He was the head of the department at CSSD and TSSU at Sharoe Green and the Royal Preston Hospital until he took early retirement.

A keen gardener, he also loved to walk.

He went on many holidays abroad, up to four times a year with Dorothy visiting Greece, Cyprus, Spain, Morocco and he loved Egypt.

He was husband to Dorothy, father to Sandra and the late Martin, cousin to Marilyn and father-in-law to Craig.

The funeral service was due to take place on Thursday, January 17, at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m, conducted by the minister Philip Norris.

Flowers welcome, donations are requested for Parkinson’s UK c/o funeral director Peter Regan, Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. MR Andrew Ramsbottom, of Rugby Avenue, Accrington, died on Tuesday, January 8, peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, aged 90.

He served his engineerin­g apprentice­ship at Howard & Bullough, and later he was Chief Inspector at Philips in Blackburn.

He went on to run his own precision engineerin­g business in Accrington.

He had a keen interest in all sports. In his youth he was signed by Blackburn Rovers before going to Germany in the Army, and by Burnley on his return.

He was also an accomplish­ed sprinter.

Andy, as he was known, was a devoted husband to his wife of 62 years, Joan.

He leaves daughters Janice, Elaine and Denise, sons-in-law Tony, Simon and Jon, grandchild­ren Linzi, Katy, Liam, Maisie and Noah and greatgrand­daughter Lola.

The funeral will take place on Monday, January 21, at 3pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m, conducted by the minister David Ireland.

GERALD HUGHES

MR Gerald Thomas Hughes, of Owen Street, Accrington, died on Monday, January 7, aged 75.

He was a time served painter and decorator all his working life, self employed before retiring. Previously he worked for A Spencers & Sons, Porters decorators and T Russell.

He loved his holidays and travelling abroad, especially to Ibiza, as well as visiting his younger daughter in Portsmouth and his elder daughter in Preston.

He maintained his home and loved gardening.

He loved to socialise, enjoyed live music and was always the first to get up and have a dance.

Gerald leaves his wife of 53 years, Jean, daughters Gillian and Susan and sons-in-law Neil and Jonathan.

Fun loving grandad of Gaby, Connie, Imogen, Molly and Samuel.

The funeral will take place on Monday, January 21, at 11am at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by the minister Angela Riding.

THOMAS SIMKINS

MR Thomas Simkins, of Great Harwood, died on Thursday, January 3, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 56.

Thomas trained as a butcher, plasterer and panel beater and many other profession­s.

He was in the Junior Army Cadets when he was young.

He enjoyed music and singing, reading, animals and socialisin­g with friends.

Son of James McD Simkins and Eleanor Simkins, he was brother of Jim Simkins and Elaine Simkins, father to Christophe­r Smith and he leaves many other aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral service will take place on Thursday, January 24, at 10.20am, at Accrington Crematoriu­m, conducted by the minister Ken Howles.

After the service everyone is welcome at Whitakers Arms.

JOAN MARSDEN HAWORTH

MRS Joan Marsden Haworth, of Windsor Avenue, Church, died on Friday, December 28, aged 65.

After leaving school Joan worked for a number of years as a quality controller at Mullards. She then worked with her partner Michael, as a company secretary for the family business, which was then sold so Michael could devote his time to caring for Joan throughout her illness.

Joan loved her holidays, spending time in Spain and Ireland.

She enjoyed going to the gym, walking her dog, reading, listening to music and shopping.

Partner to Michael for over 30 years, she also leaves daughters Louise and Nicole and grandchild­ren Lydia, Leo and Violet.

She was also a much loved sister and auntie.

The funeral service took place on Wednesday, January 9 at St Mary’s RC Church followed by a burial at Dill Hall Cemetery.

NORMAN BURDEKIN

MR Norman Burdekin, of Northcliff­e, Great Harwood, passed away suddenly at home on Thursday, January 10 aged 75.

He was the devoted husband of Jean, much loved father of Helen and David, father-in-law of Stephen and Nikki, loving grandad to Holly, Evie, Chloe and Ellie, cherished great-grandad of Ava Rose, a dear uncle and friend to many.

Norman started work at Mullards in Blackburn, before moving to 3M Neotechnic in Clitheroe in 1966, retiring in 1998.

He was a committed, long serving member of Albert Edward Lodge and also a keen golfer, being a member at Great Harwood Golf Club.

He was a faithful parishione­r of St James and All Saints Church in Clayton-le-Moors.

Norman will be greatly missed by his close family and all who knew him.

A service will be held on Friday, January 25, at 1.15pm at All Saints Church, Clayton-leMoors, followed by a private family committal at the crematoriu­m.

PATRICIA Parsons, known as Pat, of Burnley Road, Accrington, died on Friday, January 4, aged 86.

Pat was born in St Helena, South Africa and she was the youngest of four sisters.

She left South Africa aged 18 and travelled to take up residence in Accrington.

Her main employment was working on the production line at RGS Engineerin­g, Church Street, Accrington. She remained there for many years up to taking early retirement.

She was a regular worshipper at St John’s Church, Accrington, where she was also a member of the Mothers Union and often helped with the church cleaning.

She enjoyed listening to music, especially Frank Sinatra and Alfie Boe.

She was an avid reader and loved socialisin­g with friends on shopping and walking trips.

She liked watching TV, especially the soaps and general sports programmes, including cricket and tennis.

She spent many happy hours tending her rather large garden.

Pat leaves her daughter Diane and son David, along with his partner Joan.

She was a precious grandma of Damien and Lisa, Zoe and Ian, Sarah and Paul, great-grandma of Sophie, Noah and Joshua and she was also a much loved aunt and dear friend to all who knew her.

The funeral service will take place on Wednesday, January 23, at 12.45pm at St John’s C of E Church, Addison Street, Accrington, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m, officiated by Rev Hugh Scriven.

SANDRA Dawn HullMather, of Robin Hood Farm, Haslingden Old Road, Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Sunday, January 13, aged 70.

In her spare time she enjoyed holidays, line-dancing and spending time with family and friends.

Sandra had husband Alan, late husband Bernard, children Andrea and Craig, daughter-inlaw Sue, son-in-law Simon, and late son-inlaw Wayne, grandchild­ren Kirsty, Joe, Brad and Joe, great-grandchild­ren Tyler and Lucas, sister Glennis, brother-in-law David and cousins, nephews and nieces and many friends.

The funeral will take place on Tuesday, January 22 at 2pm, at Immanuel Church, Oswaldtwis­tle, followed by interment at 2.45pm at Immanuel Church Cemetery, Oswaldtwis­tle, officiated by the Reverend Martin Joss.
