Champions away – just our Cup luck

-

KATERINA LEE’S CLARETS VIEW

IT all seems to be going quite swimmingly now for us and that’s a real turn up because it was starting to look very very dour.

Four wins on the bounce.

One in an FA Cup tie where we were actually rewarded a penalty, had it rescinded as Vydra quite literally had his legs still swinging to take it, and then get another one in the dying moments of the match.

Quite frankly, those two moments were the only interesting parts of the entire game against Barnsley in the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Fantastic, we get to progress to the next round. Barnet away? Sure. Oldham at home? Great, we can win those I’m sure.

Who do we get? Manchester City away.

The champions who are enjoying breaking teams 9-0 at the moment.

Are we ever going to get a decent cup run behind us? Well, we’ll wait until 2020 to find out.

Onto another fun Burnley stat.

We managed to win a game without a single shot on target. Excellent.

It’s game like these that we have to win, and wherever that win comes from, well that’s for the opposition to defend, not score for us.

Fulham look in pretty dire straits right now and it seemed last weekend if it didn’t rain (in every direction possible), it certainly poured.

And after that wonder goal from Schurle as well. We definitely responded so well to going 1-0 down after only a few minutes and that’s the way it should continue to be.

We may have not actually scored a goal, but the intent and drive was all there.

Our back four are back for good, there’s no denying that and it’s 100 per cent down to Tom Heaton.

I do feel a bit for Joe Hart but with stats like those, there’s no denying Heaton is back for the long run.

Face it, only 10 points until we’re back in with a chance at Europa! We can dream anyway.

There’s most certainly a shift in temperament at Turf Moor now though.

The players want it, we’re positive, no one is baying for Sean’s blood anymore, we look like we could continue to win.

What more can you ask for right now?

Oh, I know, to win at the weekend and beat City in the fifth round of the FA Cup…since we’re dreaming anyway. It’s all feeling very good right for Burnley!
