Council duo get royal honours
TWO long-serving councillors who were commended in the Queen’s Birthday Honours have been presented with official certificates.
Council leader Miles Parkinson was awarded an OBE and long-serving Springhill councillor Munsif Dad has received a British Empire Medal (BEM).
Both awards were given for their political service.
Hyndburn Mayor June Harrison presented both councillors with certificates of record from the London Gazette at a council meeting last week.
