Jobs are lost in £11.5m takeover of care home
NINE people have been made redundant after a Hyndburn care home was taken over in an £11.5m deal.
Springhill Care Group has been acquired by PrimeLife and will result in redundancies at the head office of their sister company Springboard Business Support Ltd in Accrington.
Bosses say each of the affected employees have been ‘generously supported’ and more than 400 staff employed by Springhill Care Group remain unaffected across its homes in Accrington, Skelmersdale and Bristol.
Ken Nolan, former chairman of Springhill Care Group, will also retire but continue as chairman of the Lancashire Care Association pending the appointment of a new chair.
He said: “While it is with a degree of sadness that I’m retiring from Springhill, an organisation we have built as a team over the last 36 years, I am looking forward to retirement and I’m confident that I am handing over the business to people who are equally committed and the care homes are in good hands for the future wellbeing of everyone including the residents and staff.”
Simon Van Herrewege, director of PrimeLife said: “The acquisition of Springhill Care Group will further complement our growth strategy, adding three good quality established services and staff teams that are providing first rate services to those they care for.
“We very much look forward to building on these new relationships and seeing where we can bring additional service improvements for current and future clients. We have held meetings with every member of staff across the Springhill group to bring them up to speed and there will be no compromise in the highest quality of recruitment, training and investment in people as we move forward.”
