WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

DESSERT shop selling indulgent range of puddings opens (July 5) Julie Little: This shop is amazing. Annette Taylor: I’ve been at least seven or eight times already. We can’t keep away. It’s delicious. Julie Owen: Looking forward to a visit.

MAPLEFORD Nursing Home told to improve by inspectors (July 5) Katie Haworth: I am a carer at this home. This home is filled with a hard working team who go above and beyond to assure best quality of care! The management are supportive to all staff, residents and visitors and it’s a shame that people clearly haven’t took the time to read the article thoroughly, or in fact the CQC report that states there is a good level of care and the staff members have lovely relationships with the residents. This isn’t an easy job to do and we work hard to do all we can for each individuals needs! I love my job. I love where I work. It’s like one big family. Even when days are hard we pull through work together and do THE BEST WE CAN! Linda Lane: I find this quite upsetting. I worked for many years in a nursing home. The carers on my team were wonderful. We did our best with what we had we were often short staffed and had to muddle through the best we could assisting the residents in our care. Good management is necessary to make everything work. I personally prepared care plans etc for the residents in my care. I supported my staff. There was so much paperwork to prepare targets to meet which usually meant the residents just received fundamental care.

So I really believe as good as my carers were, without good effective leadership and regular training care homes really struggle to meet vac requirements. Keep on keeping on you carers.

You’re worth your weight in gold and are the foundation of the care home you work in. We are lucky to have you angels providing support and care in nursing homes. Well done. Ursula Thomason: This is sad. My dad was here for a few years before he passed away and he was always very happy. The staff were lovely. We never had any worries.

WOMAN to host first ‘death cafe’ meeting in Accrington (July 12) Victoria Mac: I think this is such a wonderful thing xx Becky Mcfarlane: They are really good to get people talking about what is a difficult subject. My uncle used to hold one in Colne a couple of years ago and it was really worthwhile.
