MR Johnny Hudson of Richmond Crescent, Knuzden, passed away suddenly at home on Sunday, July 7, aged 50.

During his life Johnny worked in the Gas industry for over 20 years.

He was a devoted family man and life revolved around spending time with them.

He also greatly enjoyed football and was a Rovers fan for 40 years and in his spare time loved doing DIY. He also loved music, especially the group New Order.

He was the dearly loving husband of Jackie, a proud father of Jade, Jessey and Johnny, a beloved son of Linda and Spud, a much loved brother of Jodie and Jamie and also an adored grandad.

Johnny will be very sadly missed by all his loving family, friends and work colleagues.

His funeral service will MR Walter Mayes, of Accrington, died on Tuesday, July 9, aged 93.

Walter began work aged 14 years at Howard and Bulloughs Engineerin­g Accrington, where he worked as a Moulder.

His last employment was working for Finch Watson, Accrington.

Walter enjoyed watching football and cricket, he liked reading novels and was a keen gardener.

Walter was the loving husband of the late Joyce, he leaves his devoted son LISA Riding died in her sleep on Friday, July 5, aged 45.

She was the mother of Marcus, Milli, Owen and James, loving daughter of Keith and Maureen Riding, loving sister to Joanne, auntie to Jack and Emily, niece of Kathleen, and partner of Alec. JESSIE COOPER

JESSIE Cooper, formerly of Stanley Street, Accrington, died peacefully at Moorhead Care Home on Tuesday, July 9, aged 96.

She was the devoted wife of the late Jack Taylor and the late Raymond Cooper, much loved mum of Sheila and the late John, loving step-mum of Susan and Sheila, dear mother-in-law of Dorothy, cherished grandma and great-grandma and dear relative.

Leaving school at the age of 14, Jessie went to work at Church Laundry, then Joseph Arnold’s Cards before moving to work at Ewbank, where she was a welder during the war. She later worked for Bert Smith in Avenue Parade and Albert Harrison’s wholesaler­s.

In 1948, Jessie married Jack and their son John was born in 1949 and their daughter Sheila in 1951.

Family holidays were enjoyed in Cleveleys, Bridlingto­n, Scarboroug­h and Great Yarmouth, always staying in hotels so that Jessie could have a rest from cooking.

Jessie enjoyed walking, dancing and socialisin­g with friends and family as well as looking round old churches.

When Jack died in 1977, she became quite independen­t, joining social groups and taking coach tours on her own.

In 1979, Jessie married Raymond and together they enjoyed walking and visiting places in the UK and abroad, including Ireland and Austria and visiting Sheila who was working in Greece. Sadly Raymond passed away in 2000 and more sadness followed when her son John passed away in 2012 after a short illness.

Family and friends remained important to Jessie and she continued swimming until her late 70s and meeting friends for lunch until her late 80s. She loved music and a good sing-along and looked forward to the school children singing at Christmas and to visiting singers and musicians both when she lived in Clayton and Moorhead.

Jessie was a wonderful mum and friend, loved by everyone who knew her. She will be missed.

Jessie’s funeral service was held on Tuesday, July 16 at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

TERRY ROBERTS

MR Terry Roberts died peacefully at The East Lancs Hospice on Saturday, July 13, aged 77.

He was the dearly beloved husband of Maureen, devoted father of Siobhan, Louisa and Clare, father-in-law of Andrew, Donato and Lee, precious grandad of Mathilda, Bertie, Annie, Betsy, Dottie and Kitty, and also a much loved brother, brother-in-law and uncle.

A Requiem Mass will take place on Tuesday, July 23, at 10am, at St Anne’s RC Church, Accrington, celebrated by Father Simon Stamp.

This will be followed by an interment at Accrington Cemetery.

MARGARET IRVING

MRS Margaret Irving, of Braeside Care Home, Oswaldtwis­tle, died on Saturday, July 13, at Braeside, aged 92.

For a few years after school, she worked at Hameldon Mill as a winder. Later in life she worked at the Slipper Works on Union Road for about 27 years.

She was a member of the Hyndburn Table Tennis League for many years until she was 80 years old.

She enjoyed table tennis, swimming and dancing.

She was wife of the late Marshall and leaves her daughter Jean, son David, son-in-law Les, daughterin-law Anne, grandchild­ren, greatgrand­children, and great, great-grandchild­ren.

The funeral service, conducted by Ken Howles, will be held on Wednesday, July 24, at 10.20am, at Accrington Crematoriu­m. This will be followed by cremation at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only with donations to Alzheimer’s Research UK.
