Round up of local Halloween events

THAT spooky time of year is almost upon us once again. If you’re looking for a Halloween-themed event for the family or children then there are plenty to choose from across Hyndburn.

The Hocus Pocus Experience will return to the Accrington Town Hall Ballroom after a sell-out 2018.

The interactiv­e theatre show will be packed with songs, dance and magic followed by workshops with the audience to create potions.

It will be held on Sunday, October 27, from 12pm to 2pm. Tickets cost £15 for children aged 16 and under and £10 for adults. A cupcake and juice is included in the child’s ticket. To book call 01254 380293.

The Jump Works on Sydney Street in Accrington will hold a Halloween party on Friday, October 25, and Saturday, October 26, from 7pm to 9pm.

Entry costs £10 and includes a free slush. There are prizes for the best dressed and games throughout the session.

The Accrington Lions are inviting children to their annual Halloween party and fancy dress competitio­n at the Poplar Club on Sunday, October 27, from 2pm to 4.30pm.

Entry costs £2.50 and all children must be accompanie­d by an adult.

A Halloween ball has been organised at Accrington Town Hall on Thursday, October 31, featuring party games, ‘wrap the mummy’, hotdogs, spooky mocktails and disco dancing.

It will be open to children up to the age of five from 4.15pm to 5.30pm and for children over five from 6.15pm to 7.45pm.

Tickets cost £5 and prizes are available for the best costumes.

Ghost hunters are being invited to take a tour of the 150-year-old Accrington Market Hall on Saturday, October 26 from 8pm to 2am. Entry costs £30 per person and for more informatio­n call Ian at the Sixth Sense Ghosthunte­rs on 07491 111281.

A Halloween-themed craft morning will be held at The Dog Inn, Belthorn, on Saturday, November 2 from 10am to 12pm.

Fancy dress is optional and the children’s workshop includes arts, crafts and games. Tickets are £2 and children under five must be supervised by an adult.

The Only Foals and Horses Sanctuary in Oswaldtwis­tle have organised a Halloween open day on Sunday, October 27, from 12pm to 4pm with a raffle, tombola, tack sale and prizes for the best fancy dress.

A Messy Play with a Halloween theme will take place at the Civic Arts Centre and Theatre in Oswaldtwis­tle on Thursday, October 31, at 9.30am. It is suitable for little one’s from six months to pre-school age.

The Warner Arms and iBar in Accrington will host a fancy dress Halloween party on November 1 and 2 will fancy dress for the best costume.

The Duke of Wellington in Great Harwood will also hold a children’s Halloween party on Saturday, November 2, from 3pm to 5.30pm. Tickets cost £3 and includes games, prizes and a disco.

The new Youth Access at Great Harwood Youth and Communnity Centre will hold its grand opening on Tuesday, October 29, with a Halloween party from 6.45pm to 9pm.

The social space for 12 to 19 years includes sports, video games, movie nights and arts and crafts.
