We can beat anyone says striker Colby

-

ACCRINGTON Stanley striker Colby Bishop has fired a warning to the rest of the sides in League One - declaring that they are capable of beating any of the other teams in the division following their impressive 2-0 win over Ipswich Town.

Ipswich had been runaway leaders at the top of the table heading into the match at the Wham Stadium on Saturday, but

Bishop netted twice to hand them their first defeat of the campaign, much to the delight of the Stanley striker.

“First things first besides the goals, obviously getting the win, especially against a team like Ipswich who are a well known team at the top of the league, it’s a brilliant result and hopefully we can kick on now,” Bishop told the club’s official website.

“Sometimes it’s just luck of the draw, other teams have been getting deflections and when it comes off the goalkeeper and someone’s there, so it’s just a bit of luck and we’ve not had that and the hard work pays off in the end.

“The gaffer (John Coleman) said at the start that they’re unbeaten but that then is a chance for you to beat them, it’s not always the worst thing.

“It’s a good thing because you want to be the team that beats them and I think we worked hard today, even with 10 men and I think we deserved it in the end.”

“Sam Finley whipped it in, and he always knows that I’m going to be at the back post, and he’s whipped it in and I’ve just managed to get my head on it and it’s not that hard when you’re five yards out.

“Nothing changes when you’re in front of goal, it’s a bit faster, people are stronger, people are better players, but if you’re in front of goal then it’s the same as I was doing all my life, so I think I should always score them.

“Me and Offrande Zanzala had a bit of a discussion for the penalty and I just felt like I had to take it and luckily enough it went in. Especially when you’re playing a big team and on Sky, it’s a happy day for me and it’s one I won’t forget.”

“Before Sunday, we were sat in the relegation zone but we’ve just played top of the league and for me, I think that we deserved to win, so as we’ve just been saying in the changing rooms, we can go as far as we want, it’s just applying ourselves like we did.

“We need to kick on, and if we can beat one of the best teams in the league then we can beat anyone.”
