Nurse Adam brings his fantasy world to book

-

JON MACPHERSON

A MENTAL health nurse has released his first fantasy novel after being inspired by writing bedtime stories for his children.

Adam Beswick, from Oswaldtwistle, came up with the idea for Arnold Ethon and the Lions of Tsavo six years ago and was given the confidence to start putting pen to paper last year after seeing his children’s faces ‘lit up’ by his creations.

The father-of-three said he has developed a ‘unique world’ incorporating spirit beasts, Mayan history and mythology that will capture the imagination of both children and adults.

Adam, 33, told the Observer: “If you enjoyed Harry Potter or the His Dark Materials trilogy then you will love this. I started writing it in January 2018 and finished the first draft by May. A friend then gave me the details of an editor who had a publishing company. When she read the book she really enjoyed it and couldn’t put it down.

“I’ve had really positive feedback and I’ve made sure that people have read it who I don’t know so they can be objective.

“The new concept has come across really well. It’s about spirituality and spiritual beasts and the main focal town ‘Oswald’ is based on Oswaldtwistle.”

The novel was released on Tuesday, December 3, and an official launch ceremony was held at Tap Select in Oswaldtwistle, also featuring a children’s workshop.

Another workshop will be held at Rhyddings Park Coach House on Saturday, December 7, from 11am to 12pm.

Adam said he has already written the sequel, which he hopes to publish next year, and is starting work on the third instalment.
