MR Donald Watson-Parke, of Alleytroyd­s, Church, Accrington, passed away on Friday, November 22, aged 65.

He was a former pupil at Hollins High school before going on to to work at the cotton mill in Haslingden.

He spent the last 30 years-plus working for Hyndburn Borough Council where he worked for different department­s before taking early retirement six years ago.

Donald liked to travel with family and enjoyed going to destinatio­ns far and wide, including America, South Africa and Europe. He also enjoyed going on holiday together with friends to Benidorm once a year, most recently enjoying a few holidays with his friends to Lloret de Mar, Malta and Tenerife.

He supported his favourite football team Manchester United and even managed to take his eldest grandson Bradley to watch the match in Manchester a few years ago.

Donald was a popular man in the pubs in Accrington where he enjoyed meeting up with friends on regular occasions during the week where he’d enjoy having a pint or two and playing a spot of bingo. He most recently found friends in Costa Coffee in Accrington where he would go for his morning coffee and have days out visiting different towns and go shopping.

He was husband of the late Susan Watson-Parke, who died 14 months ago and whom he married in June 1973, living together in Church, Accrington. Dad of Leanne Watson-Parke, he was father-inlaw of Craig Watson-Parke and grandfathe­r to Bradley and James Watson-Parke.

A funeral service will take place at 3pm on Monday, December 9, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, suggested to Cancer Research c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
