MRS Olive Walker, of Lynwood Avenue, Clayton-le-Moors, Accrington, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 27, in

Springhill Care Home, after being initially cared for by her family at home, aged 94.

She attended Hyndburn Park infant, junior and senior school.

Working at Steiners Print Works as a screen print checker, she had an artistic streak and a very good eye for detail.

On leaving Steiners she went to work at Howard and Bulloughs which is where she met her beloved husband Wilson. They were married in 1949 and were happily married until his sudden death in 2000. Olive gave up work to raise her family.

Olive and Wilson enjoyed many happy holidays in Devon and Cornwall with their young family. In later years they holidayed together in Austria, Switzerlan­d, Germany, Italy, USA and Canada.

She was very independen­t and loved gardening, baking, knitting and sewing. She was a great home-maker and took pride in her home and garden.

Olive was the middle child of James and Martha Jane Butterwort­h, sister of the late Peggy – Margaret - and the late Jim – James. Sister-in-law of Eunice and the late Bill – William - she was the much-loved and devoted mother of Stephen, Elizabeth, Judith, Peter and Christophe­r.

She was also the dear mother-in-law of Doreen, Chris, Philip, Simone and Paula, cherished grandma of Jessica and Tim,

Andrew and Robert, Alexander, Abigail and Owen, and their partners Mark, Hattie, Stacey,

Tanya and Laura.

Step-grandmothe­r of Caio, she was precious great-grandma of Raphy, Earl, Rufus and Oliver, and step, great-grandma of Clayton and Bella.

She was also a loving aunt and great-aunt of Barbara, Janet, Anne and their families.

Olive was a kind and gentle lady, much-loved and respected by her many friends and neighbours, especially her friends of 70 years, Ethel and Dorothy.

A funeral service will take place at 1pm on Monday, December 9, at Accrington Crematoriu­m.

Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, requested for Cancer Research UK.
