Mystery surrounds missing pug

-

AN owner received two mysterious and disturbing alleged sightings after reporting her pet dog as stolen.

Bonnie, a pug, has still not been found after she escaped from her home on Albert Street, Accrington on June 26.

After reporting her missing, owner Emma Morris says she received a phone call on June 29 from a man who claimed to have Bonnie after he had ran her over.

“A man rang me from a withheld number and said ‘you don’t know me but I live near you, by the way your dog is very beautiful’ and started making kissing noises down the phone,” she said.

“I was confused and asked him if he had my dog and he said ‘I’ve got your dog but it’s in the boot of my car, I’m so sorry I wasn’t going fast but I’ve knocked it over.

“I asked him to bring my dog back, dead or alive, as I wanted to see her and wasn’t sure whether this was some sick prank but he said ‘sorry love, I’m not bringing it back I’m leaving the country’ and put the phone down on me.”

Emma was not sure whether or not the phone call was a hoax, but she reported it to the police.

Later that week she then received a tip-off claiming that she had seen a young boy with her dog.

“She said she saw a young boy going into the house with a pug in his jacket,” said Emma.

“She told me she’d stopped him and asked him a few questions and he told her he’d got the pug only a week ago - which was when my dog was stolen.

“I went to the house yesterday and explained what I’d been told to the lady who answered. She let me look around her house but Bonnie was nowhere to be seen.

“I asked her to ring the young boy who had come to the house but he didn’t answer. She gave me his name and I was friends with him on Facebook so I messaged him but he’s denying that he has my dog.

“I’m not getting anywhere.

“I just want my dog back.”
