1,200 crimes recorded in latest figures

MORE than 1,000 crimes were recorded in the Hyndburn areas during May - the latest figures that are available.

All the figures are available on the Police. UK website and show the latest crime figures for each neighbourh­ood and policing area, as well as the type of crimes recorded.

The data shows more crime in Central & Springhill than anywhere else, while the safest was Huncoat.

There were a total of 1,206 crimes in Hyndburn in May.

Accrington town centre - 45 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 24, violence and sexual offences 12, shopliftin­g five, criminal public order offences four.

Altham & Clayton-leMoors - 139 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 94, violence and sexual offences 33, public order seven, ‘other’ thefts five.

Baxenden - 53 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 43, violence and sexual offences seven, vehicle crimes three.

Central & Springhill - 203 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 130, violence and sexual offences 46, criminal damage and arson 14, public order

Church with Milnshaw - 143 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 92, violence and sexual offences 36, burglaries 10, criminal damage and arson five.

Huncoat - 35 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 24, violence and sexual offences six, criminal damage and arson three, vehicle crimes two.

Netherton & Overton - 133 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 82, violence and sexual offences 36, criminal damage and arson eight, public order seven.

Oswaldtwis­tle & Knuzden - 195 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 147, violence and sexual offences 33, ‘other’ thefts eight, burglaries seven.

Peel, Barnfield & Woodnook - 178 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 106, violence and sexual offences 47, criminal damage and arson 14, ‘other’ thefts 11.

Rishton - 82 crimes. Anti-social behaviour 56, violence and sexual offences 17, burglaries five, public order four.
