Police fine 22 people after large house party
POLICE have been forced to issue fines after a large gathering attended a house party in Accrington.
A total of 22 people were slapped with fines after they breached coronavirus restrictions at the gathering on Dunnyshop Avenue late on Monday night, December 21.
Lancashire Constabulary officers attended the address and found a “large gathering”.
Police said that enforcement of the rules were necessary due to the dangers posed by such gatherings, resulting in the numerous fixed penalty notices handed out.

Hyndburn Police said: “Police were called late last night to a significant covid breach on Dunnyshop Avenue, Accrington.
“Response teams attended the address to find a large gathering inside in contravention of COVID-19 rules.
“Whilst our primary objective is to Engage, Explain and Educate, the dangers posed by such gatherings necessitated enforcement of the regulations for everyone’s safety. As a result 22 enforcement tickets were issued by officers to those present.”
One officer has slammed the incident, saying those who continue to ignore the rules are contributing to the need for us to remain in Tier 3 and preventing a reduction in the spread of the virus.
Sgt Nigel Hindle of Hyndburn NPT, said: “Whilst some people feel this is not what the police should be doing, it is what we must do, as those who continue to ignore the rules are contributing to the need for us to remain in Tier 3 and preventing a reduction in the spread of infections.
“We must all work together to reduce the number of positive cases and potential spread of the virus. Please help us to help you and remember HANDS-FACE-SPACE.”
