DOROTHY WARD

-

ON Sunday, June 20, Dorothy, of Ascot Way, Accrington, sadly passed away peacefully at home with her daughter by her side.

Dorothy was the daughter of the late Herbert and Lavinia Curran, sister to the late Margaret, the loving wife to the late Peter, devoted mum to Sandra and the late Martin, and cherished mother-in-law to Craig.

Dorothy was a well-known face in Accrington, where she ran a successful off licence on Milnshaw

Lane with her husband, Peter. She also went on to work at Asda, Oddies, and Barry Walkers, until her retirement.

Dorothy loved to dance, and this is where she met her husband, when he was playing in a band at the Cotton Club in Accrington.

She had also mastered the piano.

Dorothy loved nothing more than spending time with her family, and together they went on many trips abroad, with Greece and Spain being her favourite destinations.

Dorothy’s favourite hobby was bingo, and she would go with friends to Skinners on Blackburn Road, and her daughter joined her in later years.

Dorothy was a true lady, and her appearance was always described as very smart, and anyone who met her held great respect for her.

She loved pastel colours, but all who knew her knew that her favourite colour was pink.

Dorothy will be sadly missed by all who knew her, and fondly remembered for her beautiful smile and her heart of gold.

The funeral was due to be held on Thursday, July 8, at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, led by Rev Philip Norris. Family flowers only please; donations if desired to the NSPCC c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
