ACARE home is celebrating after the hard work of its staff has been recognised through an official rating of Good by the Care Quality Commission (CQC).

Pendle Brook, in Oswaldtwistle, cares for up to 50 people aged 65+ and those living with age related difficulties and dementia.

The residential care home’s inspection was carried out on June 23 and resulted in an overall rating of Good in all five areas (Safe, Wellled, Effective, Caring and Responsive).

The CQC praised the home, which is part of the Rochcare group, reporting that the people being cared for there, and their relatives, described staff as “very good, caring, amazing and hardworking”.

One person commented: “We are looked after in every respect.”

Relatives said: “The staff are little angels, so caring, nothing is too much trouble for them”, and “They genuinely care”.

At the time of the inspection, there were 28 people living in the Haworth Street home.

Infection control was well managed, and the home was clean and free from hazards.

The home was also rated good for their safety measures in response to coronavirus, which include effective and safe use of PPE, and testing for service users and staff.

The report added: “We were told all people living in the home had been vaccinated against COVID-19. Further discussions were underway with staff to encourage vaccination uptake.”

Lin Spencer, area manager for Rochcare, welcomed the findings, saying: “The ladies and gentlemen who live there are exceptionally well cared for and this result really reflects the hard work and dedication every member of the team shows every day.

“The facilities at Pendle Brook are stunning, but it’s the atmosphere and the attitude of the staff that I get the most comments about.

“When anyone comes to Pendle Brook they are made to feel welcome, calm and are greeted with a smile by everyone. The result from CQC truly is a moment of pride for myself and the whole Pendle Brook team.”

Pendle Brook is safely welcoming new admissions. For more information and to enquire about the care provided, go to www.rochcare.com or call Pendle Brook directly on 01254 311 777.
