House smash driver’s lucky escape

-

A DRIVER had a lucky escape after skidding off the road and ploughing into a house in Accrington.

Police said no injuries were reported after the collision at the junction of Charter Street and Pickup Street at around midnight on Saturday into Sunday, August 8.

A neighbour, who asked not to be named, said she heard the car, a Mercedes, come down the hill, skid and crash.

She added: “The middle section of the door was smashed through.

“More measures need to be put in place to stop this from happening.

“It’s not the first accident there and it’s a busy pathway - someone could have easily been killed.”

A Lancashire Police spokesman told the Observer: “It’s been reported to us around 12.10am on Sunday.

“A car has collided with a wall and the front door of a property.”
