WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:

● HYNDBURN, Blackburn and Burnley to accept fleeing Afghan refugees (August 19):

Rachel Titchy Mitts Curwen: Hoping they make it on peaceful ground. I would move heaven and earth to keep my children safe and if that meant moving to unbeknown place to me half way across the world to keep them safe I would do it.

Jane Hargreaves: Wow, some of these comments are horrific at such a tragic time! Anyone care how scared these human beings must feel having to flee their homes, jobs, families and friends to come to a place where heartless people think they are spongers, cowards and degenerates! Rachel Palmer: Can’t imagine how terrified they must be.

Stephen Maddock: Funny how the homeless only become important to some people when it suits them. The main culprits for the creation of refugees are the US and ourselves. Why shouldn’t we shoulder our portion of the blame? Debbie Jackson: I wish I had a spare room. I’d gladly have a couple stay with me. How can those of us that want to help them settle?

Patricia Chappell: And what about the homeless veterans we have that are left to fend for themselves, and the suicidal rate is going up all the time, where’s the help for them - it’s all wrong.

Phil Bentley: Wow, some of the comments. So what do we do? Leave them there to die? This is a totally separate issue to homelessness, these people (human beings by the way) have helped and worked for the British government and armed forces. Is this what we have become?

Alan Walmsley: Good job there aren’t any homeless people here already

Scarlet Willcock: God forbid anything happens here that requires us to one day have to flee the country. Global warming etc. Our little island is at a huge risk of ending up under the sea or being frozen solid.

GiGi Dow: Hopefully they can find some peace and happiness here at such a scary time.

Mel Oonie: Will they all be quarantined and tested - or has that all stopped for the time being?

Stefan Eccles: And which houses are they going to be given as we don’t have enough for the people who live in these areas.

● STYLISH new Oswaldtwistle sausage shop and butchers (August 20):

Christine Ann Burrows: All the best to you all. Karen Greenwood Jack: Best in the area!

● BEAUTIFUL tributes to special Hyndburn people who died recently (Obituaries, August 20):

Vera Walker: R.I.P. Keith, sincere condolences to Shirley, Sarah and Andrew and family

Dan Pilkington: Rip Ray Edna Ince: RIP Ronnie Leah Lyons: RIP Colin, I remember you when you use to stay at Wellfield x
