Market traders bash out bank holiday hit

MARKET hall bosses say they are already planning their next event after declaring their first evening shopping event a hit

ver the Bank Holiday weekend Accrington Market offered music, food, drink stalls and free activities for all.

Regular traders, local business owners and independen­t retailers set up their stalls until the later time of 7pm on Friday and Saturday for the ‘Bank Holiday Bash’.

Sameena King, Manager at Accrington Market, said: “After such great feedback we are pleased to confirm we are already planning our next evening opening event. Our market is more than shops, it is a space for our community to come together and enjoy. I would like to say thank you to everyone who attended to support us and hope to see everyone shopping here during our regular hours too.”

Coun Paul Cox, Hyndburn council’s portfolio holder for Accrington Market, said: “It was fantastic to see the market full of people enjoying themselves and browsing the stalls. The feedback from traders and the public has been really positive, with people already asking us when the next one will be!

“Accrington Market is in the heart of Hyndburn and after a very difficult couple of years it is great to see our community supporting the small local businesses and enjoying the magnificen­t Victorian building.”

The team at Accrington Market are accepting applicatio­ns from small businesses for their next event and have a small number of permanent units available to rent too.
