ALDI to shut Accrington store and open another in a new location (August 27):

Helen Beckett: Love the reporting and councillors comments...not like the existing store is a million miles away from Asda now

Rob Pickering: “It is a vote of confidence in Accrington and the borough and should prove very popular.” Really! Has Councillor Miles Parkinson seen the state of the town centre? Bagi Begum: Why they moving. It was a good location.

Paul Zawistowski: Store 45!

Andy Bury: I can see Aldi’s move being a better position and a good way forward in their progress. Better access for traffic and consolidates the supermarkets better. Lidl, Asda, Aldi.

Stacey Moseley: Leo Murphy it’s finally happening

Alan Smithee: I have said all along that Hyndburn Road is thriving thanks to it being very car friendly while the town centre is on its knees. The town centre is now a dead zone with anything inside the ring road well and truly finished. Aldi has always been fairly busy because of its ample car park, but as they say it is too small and isn’t in an ideal location when nobody can get into town anymore. ●● SCHOOLGIRL Ffion Nightingale took part in a sponsored cancer charity hair chop (August 27):

Kathryn Ann Furey: Love it - I am growing mine to do the same, I hope Ffion inspires others to do the same!

Sam Kotero: What a lovely gesture and the new hairstyle suits her. Jennifer Ralph: Well done Ffion x

Renee Jackson: Well done young lady God bless you. Annie Carlin: Well done.
