Revolution to start busy year

-

WELCOME to the Civic’s new regular column. Our first major event of the year is Bingo Revolution on February 4.

This is bingo, but not as you know it.

It’s wild and crazy and involves a six-foot blow up dinosaur. There are laughs to be had and dabbers to be dabbed.

One thing people don’t always know about the work we do is the range of shows we create in-house.

On February 11 at 10.30am we have a delightful tale called I Love You This Much created by our talented in house team and then in the evening we have one of our ever popular murder mystery suppers, again created in house.

We take the children’s shows out to nurseries and schools and we take the murder mysteries out to hotels and events so if you want to know more get in touch.

After that it is half term and due to the current situation, we can’t have holiday clubs but we do have something interesting on each day.

On Monday it’s Cartoon Circus Live, Tuesday it’s Paint a Cermic, Wednesday it’s Sublime Science, Thursday it’s Build and

Paint a Birdhouse and on Friday we have Nerf Games and then in the evening of February 18, Pop Divas Live.

Tribute bands are always popular and over the course of this year we aim to bring some of the country’s leading bands to you, starting things off with Crazy Little Thing Called Queen on February 19 and Counterfeit 60s on February 26.

And if you’re not into music but want a good laugh we have our first Comedy Club of the year on February 25.

Another thing that people don’t always know about us is that we work across Lancashire delivering projects and commissions.

We’re currently in Colne working with a youth club on an Arts Award project. Arts Award is a nationally recognised qualification that we deliver at the Civic and in other venues. Bronze level is equivalent to a GCSE, Silver is equivalent to a high level GCSE and Gold is equivalent to an A level and carries UCAS points.

We have more than 30 students on various projects working towards different levels at the moment and we’re happy to talk to any school or community group that is interested in us delivering Arts Award in your setting.

It can start from very young up to age 25.

We’re also working on a Climate Change project that will see us deliver a visually inventive performance in local schools accompanied by a workshop and discussion session. If you want us to visit your school get in touch.

So there is plenty going on and as the year progresses there is more. Our full listing is available on our website and if you want to find out more or book our shows to come to you email us at info@ civicartscentre.co.uk.
