Line-up is revealed for royal celebration

-

HYNDBURN council have been planning ahead for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations this June and some of the events and activities taking place have now been announced.

A highlight of the Jubilee celebrations will be a free hop-on hop-off bus service visiting seven of Hyndburn’s parks on various dates for people to take part in the interactive ‘Beacon Trail’.

Council leader Miles Parkinson said: “I am particularly pleased that events for the Platinum Jubilee Celebrations will extend across Hyndburn and not only are we bringing the Jubilee to people’s doorsteps, we are helping families explore more places in our borough too.

“There are still a few other events and activities we are waiting to confirm so this list is going to get even longer closer to the time. I would encourage everyone to put the dates in their diaries and let their friends and family know.”

People are also invited to host their own street parties and the council will support these with guidance and advice. A streamlined process for applying to organise a street party has also been set up and residents who are interested are encouraged to get in touch asap, to make sure their application is submitted before the deadline of April 20.

Applications for members of the community to host their own street parties will remain open until six weeks before the event. People are encouraged to apply as soon as possible.
