FRANK GARDNER

-

IT is with our deepest sorrow that we inform you of the passing of our beloved dad, grandad, husband, and brother, Mr Frank Gardner, of Accrington, aged 61. He passed away on Saturday, March 19, after fighting a long and courageous battle with cancer, with his wonderful wife Cathy Gardner by his side.

We would like to thank the East Lancs Palliative Care Team, and the district nurses, for their care and support throughout. We are overwhelmed at the love and support we have received from all our family, friends, and neighbours at this difficult time.

Frank started his working life as a welder, but had a career change after some time, where he worked in the probation service for a few years, before retiring as a welder working for Wilkinson

Star Eng. Company. A special thanks to them for all their support during Frank’s illness. Frank ended his career as a welder/tutor. This work took him all over the country, and he really enjoyed it.

He loved walking, holidays in the UK and abroad, had a passion for real ales, enjoyed England playing rugby, and was a motorcyclist for many years. He was a very knowledgeable person, and took a great interest in the English Civil War.

He was a member of the Sealed Knot Society, Earl of Manchester Regiment, where he made a lot of very good friends.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 11am at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, led by Neil Overton. Family flowers only, with donations to Cancer Relief UK or Guide Dogs for the Blind, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
