DAVID MOWLE

-

PEACEFULLY at Spring Hill Care Home on Saturday, March 12,

David, aged 81, of Accrington.

The dearly loved husband of Christine, loving dad of Joanne and Ian, dear brother of George, loved uncle and brother-in-law.

David was born and raised in the Accrington area, where he lived all his life, apart from two years in the 60s when he and some friends decided to see the world.

He travelled across Europe, onto India, and finally Australia, returning home a few years later with lots of interesting tales about his travels.

On leaving school, David worked briefly at Nori Brickworks, before moving to Dick Heaps Demolition.

He also worked as a HGV driver at Accrington Street Lighting, Gilbraiths Transport, and Hyndburn Borough Environmental Health Department.

He then worked part-time at Hamilton McBride for a number of years.

For many years David raced pigeons, and was a member of Accrington and District Homing Society.

He also loved his daily walks, and would go for miles each day, until ill health prevented him from continuing.

He had a keen interest in local history, and had a collection of books he liked to browse.

For many years, David had a season ticket for Burnley FC, and attended matches with his son and daughter.

David’s funeral service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, April 8 at 1pm, led by Neil Overton.

Family flowers only please; donations if desired for Alzheimer’s Research UK c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, to whom grateful thanks are due, along with Ward C3 at RBH, and Spring Hill Care Home, for all their care of David.

Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
