BIG PICTURE
WHAT you’ve been saying on our Facebook page:
●● LIDL calls on public to help locate new Lancashire sites with £22k reward (April 26):
Scott Griffiths: We need one in Oswaldtwistle
Lydia Godfrey-Harrison: Personally I think Clayton due to having to travel to another town for a big shop
●● HERITAGE Charity Shop opens at Accrington Arndale (April 22):
Brian Gilsenan: This is why our town centre is dead on its feet. Decent shops do not want to come here because they don’t want to be in the same vicinity as all the charity shops. Just another nail in the coffin.
Sam Kotero: It’s a shame Bodycare closed as I like that shop. There are 2 other Heritage shops in Acc, one at the top of Peel St and one on Abbey St. The one in the Arndale is the 3rd Heritage to open. Do we really want 3 of the same shop?
Diane Heys: Make the Arndale a museum, as that’s all that seems to be in there
●● FORMER Hope &
Anchor pub to be transformed into new flats (April 22):
Rob Martindale: Had many good nights in there I don’t remember! RIP.
Dilys Jones Rodia: It was a fantastic pub years ago but if it’s not going to reopen as a pub then make use of it, don’t let it go to ruin
Emma Brown: Was a great pub. So many great nights/ days out in the Hope.
Linda Redman: So sad to see all these locals standing empty. This is why there are few communities in the UK now. (Obv only my opinion).
Sarah Clugston: That was a cracking pub. Had many a good night in there
Nicola Jane Toma: Used to have some great nights there back in the day Marilyn Davies: Brilliant idea if it’s not going to be a pub again
Julian Ireland: Waste of a good pub
Hassan Webb: Been empty a long time but intact as opposed to being derelict. Seven apartments is ridiculous in a building that size.
Howard Clinning: Had some great nights in hope in mid 80s, early 90s Rochelle Donlon: Loved this place back in the 80’s, had many a really good nights here
John Cavanagh: One of the best pubs in Accy
Marie Walsh: Used to work in there in the late 90s. Absolutely funny that place.
Gary Alltree: Was a cracking boozer back in the day, Hope and Anchor.
Dot Kenyon: I would like one if for rent, ground floor Leanne Howson: Had many great nights at Hope and a good few day sessions
Ashley Sowden: many a good night here
Hector K Ayrtoom: End of an era
