MR Henry Richardson, known as Harry, of Friar Court, Accrington, died on Sunday, May 1, aged 85.

Harry was born in

West Ham, London in 1936.

Son of the late Henry and Mary, Harry is survived by his brothers and sisters, Doreen,

Alan, Christine and Brian.

Harry was a longdistan­ce driver before retirement. He worked for London Railways as a fireman and then a train driver in his early career. Later he and his late wife Gretta entered into the pub trade as licensees in London, Manchester and Lancashire, running several pubs and working men’s clubs.

Steam engines were Harry’s passion. He also loved to visit his brothers and sisters and extended family in London.

Harry enjoyed to run the bingo, and took part in many activities with all of his dear friends in Friar Court.

Husband of the late Gretta, and father-in-law of the late Glyn, he leaves daughters Carol, Tina, and Rhonda, sons-in-law Mark and Neil, partner Doreen, who he was recently engaged to, grandchild­ren Phil, Debs, Reece, Dan, Chris, Sam, Tom, Em, Dan, and Laura, and greatgrand­children Soph,

Ben, Charlie, Noah, Kieran, and Riley.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 12.20pm at Accrington Crematoriu­m, led by Anthony Walsh.

The cortege will leave Harry’s home at Friar Court; if you wish to leave with Harry from here, please arrive at 11.45am. Following the service, Harry’s family invite you to join them at Grant’s Bar, Accrington, from 1.30pm to celebrate his life. Family flowers only please; donations if desired to Prostate Cancer UK c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
