FOLLOWING a life lived to the full and in the service of others, Mrs Pat Sullivan, of The Croft Care Home, Whalley died peacefully on Friday, May 6, aged 88.

The devoted wife of the late Dennis, beloved mum of Chris, grandma to Daniel and Kate, and friend to many.

Pat was educated in Accrington at St John’s School and Accrington High School. After attending Whitelands College in London, she spent her teaching career at St Andrew’s, Accrington, and St Nicholas, in Church.

She was a stalwart of St Mary Magdalen’s

Church, Accrington, and was a Church Warden, choir member, and Mothers’ Union organiser. Dressing the church with flowers was her labour of love. Pat was also a governor at St Christophe­r’s School.

Her hobbies included gardening, reading, and researchin­g her family history.

Pat was chair of the Hyndburn Family

History Society, and was actively involved in Bel Canto Theatre, where she assisted with the wardrobe for production­s. She loved her community, and this newspaper, which she would always read from cover to cover.

Pat achieved so much in her life, and a favourite quote from Stephen Hawking sums up her approach: “Remember to look up at the stars and not down at your feet.”

Pat’s remains will be received at St Mary Magdalen’s on Tuesday, May 17 at 5.45pm.

A Requiem Mass will be held at St Mary Magdalen’s at 11.45am on Wednesday, May 18, followed by committal at Accrington Crematoriu­m at 1pm, led by Fr David Arnold.

Donations from friends and family are requested to St Mary Magdalen’s Church in lieu of flowers.
