Pub reopens to show off £287,000 new look
APOPULAR pub opened its doors after nearly six week’s closure for a £287,0000 refurbishment.
The Whitakers Arms on Burnley Road in Accrington reopened on Thursday, February 22.
Vanessa Wolfenden is taking the reins as the new licensee with her husband Jamie Wolfenden who is a key part of the new team.
The revamp has transformed The Whitakers Arms into a quality family-friendly pub that caters for the whole community and has a games zone complete with a new pool table, darts and a high spec AV system showing BT and TNT Sports, along with a spacious function room and a new menu.
To celebrate the pub’s reopening, there was live music on the evening of Saturday, February 24.
The Whitakers Arms will open from 11am to 11pm daily.
New licensee, Vanessa has a myriad of activities and events planned to put the pub back at the heart of the community including quiz nights, bingo, sports screenings and pool and darts teams.
There will also be regular entertainment with live music booked every
Saturday night through to June.
Vanessa said: “The refurbishment has exceeded all our expec
tations; the pub looks fantastic. We’re over the moon and can’t wait to show everyone their new look local. There’s been
lots of excitement and interest – we’ve already got bookings for meals and functions.
“We’ve had a warm
welcome from the community. We’re very grateful for their support, it has made us feel really at home.”
Chris Newsham, Star Pubs and Bars’ area manager for the North West, said: “The investment has created lots
more reasons to visit The Whitakers Arms and will help it thrive for the long-term. We wish Vanessa all the best!”
