Women back at Wham for Mother’s Day

ACCRINGTON Stanley Women will return to the Wham Stadium on Sunday 10th March, as they take on Penrith AFC Ladies in the first round of the Alliance Design & Print Plate Competitio­n.

It is the fourth time that Stanley Women have played at the Wham Stadium this season, and will celebrate Internatio­nal Women’s Day and Mother’s Day, with hospitalit­y available in Accrington Stanley’s 1968 Lounge for a Mother’s Day Afternoon Tea

Free entry has also been announced as Stanley Women hope to welcome a bumper crowd to the Wham Stadium and surpass the 1,249 attendance which attended the club’s local derby against Darwen FC Women in early February.

Accrington Stanley’s world class hospitalit­y venue will be open before, during and after the game which kicks off at 2pm, with food and drink available in Coley’s alongside the hospitalit­y in the 1968 Lounge, as well as a viewing area to watch the match from indoors, while a raffle will also take place on the day.

Only goal difference separates Stanley Women and Penrith AFC. Ladies in the North West Womens Regional League Division One North, with both sides sitting on 34 points, having won 11 games each.

Stanley Women have won 10 of their last 14 games in all competitio­ns and will be looking to enjoy a good cup run after exiting the League Cup against Darwen FC Women.

Before the cup tie at the Wham Stadium, Stanley Women travel to face Penwortham Town Ladies on Sunday 3rd March at Vernons Sports Club – 2pm kick off.
