Happy shopper

Air Gunner - - Your Letters -

I have been a club shooter for five years, and have given HFT and FT comps a go with limited success, but a lot of enthusiasm and a pair of dodgy middle-aged knees. I shoot at Pontefract Air Rifle club for fun, to have a catch-up on the week’s events, and to show off any new toys we may have been able to smuggle home under the wives’ radar. I paid a visit to Redbeck Shooting supplies at Wakefield where I was given a warm welcome. I asked to have a look at the Walther RM and explained that I had a part exchange, and a fair deal was easily struck. Being a fussy bugger, I asked for a box-fresh RM8, but when the box was opened, it appeared that Armex have changed the spec’ on the RM8 and it no longer has the nicely-styled barrel

weight. This has been replaced with a muzzle brake. To be fair, this may appeal to others, but was not for me. The only other fresh .177 was in black, which I thought looked great, so I agreed to take this one only to find it to be down on power. To the credit of Redbeck, although the gun was chrono’d out of my sight, they told me it was low on power and they couldn’t let it go out. I can’t help feel that a less reputable shop would have happily sent me off with the rifle without any hesitation. Anyway, I settled on the ‘off the shelf’ one which was unmarked. I can only pay tribute to their excellent service, and tolerance of me as an awkward customer. I will definitely be back. Also I’d to add a big thank you to you and your team. I get your mag’ each month and look forward to seeing what’s new in the world of air rifles, and I really appreciate the good work and PR you do spreading the good word about air rifles, particularly at this time when people are focusing on the negative side of gun ownership.
