More springs please!

Air Gunner - - Your Letters -

I loved the springer special issue last month and you should give us more of the same. Most of my friends and I shoot springers because PCPs aren’t reliable enough for hunting. We service and repair our own guns, and you can’t do that with a PCP, which saves us lots of money. Real airgunners shoot real airguns, not these recoilless jobs! Edward

Hello Edward I see you have strong opinions about this subject, which is great, but I have to disagree with you about PCPs not being reliable. I’ve hunted with my Air Arms S410 for some 12 years and only had one problem in that time. The part that failed I was able to repair myself for about £5. I accept that you need to treat PCPs with a little more care than a springer, especially when it comes to filling them. I also agree that skilled folks can service their own guns, but I’ve seen lots of springers ruined by people who had no business pulling one apart. Ed.

The ability to service your own gun is part of the appeal of a springer
