Air Gunner - - Ed's Welcome -

This is a strange month for me because one of our longest-standing contributors has health problems and cannot deliver his usual four-page collector’s article. I’m proud to say that we have one of the most respected writers and most knowledgeable collectors in the world of airguns writing for Air Gunner, in the form of John Atkins, who has been a loyal supporter of the magazine for several decades. I hope he’s well again soon so that we can once again delight in his expertise and knowledge.

Needing somebody to cover for him, I contacted another wellloved collection expert who writes for our sister magazine, Airgun World. John Milewski told me that it would indeed be an honour to fill the pages whilst his collecting hero recovers. He continued to say that John Atkins was a huge influence on him and had inspired him to collect and to write about airguns. This all has the feeling of the protégé standing in for his mentor and with pleasure, and I’m truly touched by the respect between the two men.

Although I know many of you will miss Mr Atkins’ words this month, I’m sure you’ll find Mr Milewski’s article very entertaining and enjoyable too. I’m also sure that, like me, you’ll all wish John a complete and speedy recovery. Ed.

Collecting can be fascinating and expert guidance is invaluable
