Enough power

Air Gunner - - Your Letters -

I must congratulate you on your article, ‘ Not enough power? Says who?’

I have had people say, ‘ You can’t kill a rabbit with an air rifle because they are not powerful enough.’ My reply is, ‘ The ones in my freezer didn’t know that.’

A 12ft.lb. air rifle has the power to kill our quarry at greater range than we ethically hunt at because precise shot placement dictates maximum range. Rimfire rifles and shotguns are no guarantee of clean kills if ethical codes of hunting are not followed. How do I know? I have these guns, and power alone is not the answer to sloppy shooting. The legal limit rifle is a great hunting tool if used correctly and I would not be without mine at any price.

Well said Phil, excellent article, great mag. Barry Rooney

Hello Barry Thanks for your support on this subject, especially as you have experience from both sides of the argument. Like you, I believe that shooting ethically is key to the long term future of all shooting sports. The gun you shoot is irrelevant. Ed.

Barry agrees with the editor. Skill, not power, matters
