So underrated

Air Gunner - - Your Letters -

I’ve owned a Weihrauch HW98 for over 10 years, now, and I can honestly say it must be the most underrated sporter of them all. These days, the airgun manufacturers have finally caught on to the value of adjustable stocks, but Weihrauch had that sussed a couple of decades ago, when the HW98 was introduced. The same goes for the superior grip, and therefore handling efficiency, offered by stippling. The HW98 has the entire grip and the complete underside of the forestock covered in high-quality stippling, and it’s much the better for it.

Then again, Weihrauch were many years ahead with their Rekord trigger, so this sort of this is nothing new for them. I have a reasonable armoury of airguns, these days, including a few top-ofthe-range PCPs, but none give me the pure pleasure I get from my HW98. Let’s hear it for one of the true great sporters. ALAN SYMONDS

Hello Alan, I couldn’t agree more; in fact I tested the HW98 back in February’s issue and the title of that feature was ‘Ahead of its time’, because this rifle certainly is - and you can win one in this month’s comp! Ed.

Weihrauch really did see the future when they designed the HW98
