Science and skill

Air Gunner - - YOUR LETTERS -

I just wanted to say how good the magazine is these days, a head and shoulders above the others. I really like how the hunting related articles focus on the science and skill behind hunting, as opposed to hunting tales or ‘hunting porn’ as I call it. As an aside, I recall your main gun is the FAC Daystate Huntsman Regal. I’m thinking of getting one as a cheaper alternative to the FAC- rated electronic guns. How does it perform? JOE SMITH

Hello Joe I’m glad you’re enjoying Air Gunner because it’s very important for me to know that I’m steering it in the right direction to be what readers want. I think that the Regal is quite superb at12 ft.lbs. and high power and it suits my needs perfectly. Mine delivers 30 shots at 29 ft.lbs and is as accurate as any rifle I’ve ever tested. It also handles superbly and isn’t excessively heavy, so can be carried for hours without unnecessary strain. Daystate has recently added a new variant that employs a regulator to make the velocity more consistent across the whole fill and extract a few more shots as well. They’re building one for me to try and I’ll publish my thoughts on the changes once I’ve had time to see what they mean out in the field. Ed.

The Daystate Huntsman Regal is a fine hunting gun at any power level
