In­side your springer there’s a pis­ton assem­bly, in­side which sits a large, pow­er­ful main­spring. The front of the pis­ton is fit­ted with a ‘head’ de­signed to cre­ate an air­tight seal within the ri­fle’s com­pres­sion cham­ber and it’s the com­pressed air gen­er­ated by the fast-mov­ing pis­ton that blasts the pel­let down the bar­rel. This cy­cle also pro­duces the re­coil you’ll need to man­age in order to get the most from your springer. Just fol­low our guide, above, and watch that ac­cu­racy im­prove.
