A fore end is a fore end, for any de­sign of ri­fle, but as so of­ten hap­pens, springer shoot­ers need to con­sider things a lit­tle more. As far as the fore end goes, al­ways re­sist the urge to grab the fore end and use it to pull the ri­fle hard into your shoul­der. In­stead, sim­ply cra­dle the fore end in your half- open palm, us­ing the ab­so­lute min­i­mum of hand pres­sure to keep it in po­si­tion. This ‘ soft hands’ tech­nique will al­low the ri­fle to re­coil smoothly, with­out in­ter­fer­ence from your grip - and that ap­proach is ex­actly what’s re­quired, here.
