Introducing your new editor, Dave Barham - a man with a plan - or several - for the future of this magazine
Welcome, to the February 2019 issue of Air Gunner. Happy New Year!
First off I’d like to say a big ‘Hello’ to you all, and also a massive ‘Thank you’ to Phill Price for leaving me with such a great magazine and team of contributors to build on.
For those who have never heard of me (probably most of you), I have been writing for our sister title, Airgun World, for over three years, but my real expertise in publishing comes from having edited numerous magazines in the world of sea fishing during the past 25 years.
I have always had a passion for airguns, though, since the tender age of eleven, so when the opportunity arose to edit Air Gunner I jumped at the chance – it’s rather surreal sitting here in the office as editor of the mag’ that I used to buy and read as a kid!
Over the coming months I shall be reaching out to you, the Air Gunner reader, for your input to help make the magazine even better. If you turn to page 20 you’ll see a couple of new feature ideas that I shall be implementing from the March issue onwards, but I really want to hear from you to find out exactly what you want to read about.
I’ve opened the doors with a series of one-page features in this issue under the ‘It’s Your Call’ banner, where I’ve endeavoured to answer a series of questions that have arisen in recent months from my friends. Take a look at pages 40, 48, 56 and P71 to see what I’m on about.
If you’re questioning getting in touch please don’t be embarrassed, no question is ‘ too stupid’, I’ve been shooting for over 35 years and I still learn something new every time I talk to someone about airguns and shooting. That’s the great thing about our sport, we never stop learning, so please let me know your thoughts.
We have a wealth of knowledge in the office and of course within our dedicated team of contributors – we’re all here to help. Drop me an e- mail at: [email protected] archant. co.uk
