The editor has had a very busy month, testing some exclusive and innovative new gear whilst getting out and about
Welcome, to the April 2019 issue of Air Gunner. It’s been another crazy- busy month for me and I’m absolutely loving it. We started off with a dusting of snow, and as I sit here typing this it’s 9am, the sun is out and it’s already 12 degrees!
I spent yesterday afternoon in my garden basking in the sunshine while testing a rather amazing new range of pellets from QYS. My garden range is only 25 metres long, but I still can’t believe how good these new pellets are. It’s quite rare to stumble across a real game changer these days, but I really believe I have now found the pellets that my BSA R10 and I both love in the form of the FT Streamlined Heavy (9.56g) - check out why I’ll be using them for the forseeable future on page 50.
I also managed to get out for a day’s hunting with our very own Jamie Chandler, and what a thoroughly nice chap he is too. We had a great time chewing the cud, rattling off a few shots, eating lots and even taking a few pigeons home for dinner. You can read all about our exploits on page 37.
I’m so pleased at the response
to the Junior Airgunner pages; it seems a lot of you have kids who shoot with you, and we’re starting to get some great pictures of smiley, happy faces being sent in - please keep them coming!
We’ll be announcing the sponsor of the pages in the May issue, and we’ll be dishing out some quality prizes to those who have already sent in their pics and entered the competition.
As you can see from the cover, I’ve been a very lucky chap this month, taking delivery of the firstever regulated Air Arms S510R TDR rifle. What an amazing piece of engineering it is too! It’s a real breath of fresh air to shoot something so functional that is designed with hunting in mind. I’ve gone to town on the review by spreading it over five pages, but I think this rifle deserved it, as you will no doubt find out.
Well, that’s about it from me this month, I hope you enjoy this issue as much as I have enjoyed putting it together! I wish you all happy shooting, and please do get in touch. Right at the last minute we just had to do a 'Stop Press' special feature on the Great British Shooting Show - Check out all the new kit for 2019!
The new Air Arms S510R TDR is an amazing rifle. Turn to page 22 for Dave’s in-depth review
